Welcome!
Bella Quill ~ Ianthis ~ Quillful ~ Bayla ~ all pronouns
Welcome to my corner of the web! I'm a PhD candidate in Classics and this space is primarily (but not entirely) for sharing some of the exciting Classics-related projects that I work on.
I spend a lot of my time working on various fiber arts, and you'll find some documentation of that over at Textiles. I can especially recommend you poke around on the weaving/spinning tab since I have a bunch of pages there are the my ancient and modern style weaving and spinning activities.
In the spring semester of 2025, I had the unique pleasure of teaching an undergraduate course in ancient Mediterranean textiles. You can find extensive documentation of the course here (or at the link in the navigation bar above). On this website, I include all of my course materials, a description of the course and all of our studio activities, lots of pictures (shared with student permission), and a bibliography and links to places to purchase relevant supplies. Check it out!
In addition to strings of fiber, I like to play the strings of the ancient Greek lyre some times. You can find more about that over at Music.
On the Latin and Greek side of things, I believe strongly on the utility of the facing notes/vocab intermeidate commentary. Over at Commentaries you can find my own co-written commentary on the Greek text Batrachomyomachia (Battle of Frogs and Mice) and the masterlist I maintain.
Book Reports may look the most academic here, but it's actually the least! Over there I share my thoughts on the English novels I like to read in my free time, mostly fantasy (plus some comics and webcomics).
I don't do much of it these days, but I am also a fan of visual art (drawing and painting, digitally and traditionall). All of the headers on this site are made by me. My non-fiber instagram, @bella_quill, is for posting my art (when I get around to making any)
If you're interested in any of this stuff (on a casual level or an academic level) please do reach out, either through any of my socials listed on the sidebar, or through the Contact Me button (email).
